Optical network equipment converts voice, data and video into light pulses.  Light pulses are transmitted via fiber optic cable.  Fiber optic cable is so pure that you could view the light from a candle burning 7 miles away.

At the business, the optical signal is converted into an electrical signal using an optical network terminal (ONT).  Existing coaxial cable or telephone lines distribute the signals within the business -delivering digital cable TV, telephone and high speed internet.
